MULTI-SITE SOLUTION

TitleDo our offices run as separate business entities or as a single entity?  If our software permitted it, would we change the status quo?
TitleDo we want a single database or separate databases?
TitleDo we bill patients and insurance from each office or from a central office location?

TitleDo we want to track production by location, all together or both?
TitleDo we schedule appointments between offices and send patients from one to another (for example, specialty appointments?)
TitleDo we need to view the stock at our main office from the satellite offices or vice versa?

If your practice includes more than one location, it is important to choose software capable of addressing the business challenges inherent in a more complex business environment.  Be aware that not all software meets such challenges equally well and that, in fact, the technical platform of your software becomes increasingly important in a multi-site environment.  Entry-level platforms increase your business exposure (risk) particularly when they seem to offer the desired on-screen functionality but fail to provide adequate privacy and security or to preserve data integrity.

In addition, here are some of the options you will want to consider as you answer this all-important question:  What are the unique business challenges of my multiple-office practice and how will my new software allow me to remove these obstacles and embrace revolutionary change?

The most common network solution among MD Professional clients is the use of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) with Terminal Services.  This particular solution lies outside of your practice-management software and is essentially the secure network environment on which the software runs.  Properly set up, it meets HIPAA security standards and can also save you thousands of dollars in hardware costs by allowing you to use a single server for two or more offices.

At MD Professional we require you to employ a local IT professional to set up and maintain your network.  This responsibility falls outside the scope of software.  However, it is essential that your network and software solutions providers work together as a team.  Our technical staff will be pleased to work with your chosen IT professional to coordinate your initial preparations and ongoing support.
